Does 7/8" measure from top edge to bottom edge OR the inscription area?
I was thinking of using font 50, but after trying to draw this out at home, it looks like it might be too big.
Please share your thoughts as to whether or not I should use 50 or go with 40. Thank you!

7/8" measures from the top edge to the bottom edge, the inscription area is closer to 5/8". Font size 50 will be great if you're engraving initials or a short name. If the name is a little longer or you're having a few words, than font size 40 will be better.

I just want the 3 initials engraved on the clip, where will they be placed and approx. how large will they be?

They will be engraved right in the center of the face of the money clip. They will about 1/2" high, just large enough to stand out without looking to large.
