It does use a cartridge. It comes with one cartridge but we do not sell refills at this time. We will be adding refills to our product selection soon.

This product was even better than I expected, It looks like it cost much more than it did, I have wanted a fountain pen for quite awhile, but hadn't used one for a long time. When I received mine I couldn't get the ink ti flow, so I called the company and a gentlemen tried to walk me through putting it together. I still couldn't get it to work, so he said all his own was to send me another one. I got it within a week and it worked perfectly. I truly think it was my ignorance that caused the original problem. This is a great company.
