I would like to have coordinates engraved,but I do not see how I can put in a degree symbol. Any thoughts?

We can engrave degree symbols.
On PCs - hold down the Alt key and on the numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard, type 0176, or Alt+ 248 When you release the Alt Key, a ° should be there.
On Macs - option shift 8.

The compass holder is very attractive and the personal engraving was done quickly (incorrectly the first time, but was remedied quickly). Unfortunately, the compass itself is SO CHEAP looking and sounding (you hear it shaking around). Literally looks like something you would pick up at the dollar store. I am so embarrassed by the lack of quality, I am not giving it for a graduation gift as intended. The compass is worth about $5.00. I would happily have paid more for a quality product.
The outside is very attractive.
The actual compass is such cheap quality it does not match the outside.

I thought although the stainless looked nice on the outside the compass itself was cheap and plastic inside. Did not feel it was worth the money. Also I had an inscription that was suppose to be on the back and the only engraving was on the front. Was told it was possible to engrave both sides.

Not the quality I expected for the money. Disappointed with engraving... monogram style engraving of initials was requested but that was not how it was engraved.
Also, the remaining portion of the engraving is too small to be read.
Website should provide preview and photos of both front and back.

I ordered this for my son's high school graduation and its a very nice sturdy compass. I didnt engrave the front but did the back and it looks nicer. I wish I had put something on the front , maybe his initials or the saying I put on the back"for all the places you'll go" goes nicely with Dr Seuss book I had all his relatives write in with college/ life advices.

LESSER QUALITY THAN EXPECTED

I ordered this as a special gift for my son's military graduation. The ordering process and shipping was seamless and quick, and engraving was beautiful. However, the compass was not the quality I had hoped for. It must have been more plastic than stainless steel as another reviewer mentioned, due to being much lighter weight than expected. The feature that really cheapened the look though was the black decoration on the inner lid which was nothing more than a sticker with visible air bubbles under it! Unacceptable and regrettably disappointing.
Shiny and functional.
Poor quality, not worth the price.

The compass is just as described. It is a nice gift for our son who recently graduated from college. We are however, disappointed in the engraving. It looks like the engraver skipped so one of the monogrammed letters is not as clear as it should be. We feel the company should have checked and corrected this before sending the compass out.
