I Do Weddings

To our readers in the greater San Diego area who are looking for a wedding and event coordinator, we would like to introduce you to Melissa Barrad, founder of I Do...Weddings & Events. Melissa was gracious enough to spend some time with our own Pete Ekizian, to tell us a little more about what she and her team does and why you may want to get in touch with them.

Pete: What sets I Do...Weddings & Events apart from other wedding event planners in the San Diego area?

Melissa: We have been in business for 15 years! I am a San Diego native, and while the industry has changed considerably in this time, I feel like I'm the perfect planner to help showcase this gorgeous city!

Pete: Why are you successful in a niche where many others have failed?

Melissa: At the heart of everything I do is personal relationships. I love seeing past clients celebrate babies, 10 year wedding anniversaries and everything life has to celebrate! My fellow colleagues and vendors are also very important to what I do. It's much more than hiring great people, it's getting to know these great people and working as a team.

Pete: What do you think can’t be replicated (quickly) about what you do for your clients?

Melissa: I have a design and floral background, which translates into a lot of extra touches on the day of the event. I love to have little surprises my couples will love!

Pete: If you could go back, what would you change about how you did things?

Melissa: I'd stand firmer in the person I am. While this business has been a learning curve, and I am constantly learning, I have also learned to never force a fit. The San Diego market is very large and I wholeheartedly believe there are perfect service providers for everyone!

Pete: What do you think your unique skillset or superpower is that has helped you become successful?

Melissa: I bring a creative attitude to the table. I often say, "A good planner will never say no, but will instead offer up alternatives...."

Pete: What's the best way for people interested in your service to get in touch with you?

Melissa: Email at info@sdweddingplanner.com and phone. Nothing replicates face to face, but establishing a rapport is very important to me!
