FEATURES/SPECS
The first carriage clock was designed in 1812 for Emperor Napoleon! They gained popularity throughout the 19th century, and were used as travel clocks. They were traditionally designed to be very decorative, set into a rectangular case, and were topped with a metal carrying handle. Our Bulova Document Carriage Clock carries on this tradition with this brown cherry-finish hardwood tabletop clock. Our modern version operates on a quartz battery, however, unlike the 19th century spring movement design! A silver-tone square has a champagne ivory dial, and is set with jet black Roman numerals and hands. Surrounding the round face are four black filigree corners that highlight the numerals and hands, and add a decorative touch to the clock face. In keeping with the historical carriage clocks, ours has a solid metal decorative handle on top. There's a small plate below the clock face that can be personalized for a gift or award recognition. The clock is sized to fit on a tabletop, desktop, or shelf in your home or office space. Along with your gift-boxed clock, you will receive our full Satisfaction and Performance Guarantee!

This Has Old-World Charm

The clock is stunning. However, we used the maximum number of lines allowed (four) for the engraving, and the bottom three lines were the smallest engraving I've ever seen! I would advise limiting the inscription to no more than three lines, and preferably only two. Regardless, this clock is a piece anyone would be proud to receive and display in their office.
Pros
  • Filigree on clock face adds a very nice touch
  • Looks like fine furniture
Cons
  • May not be the best gift choice if you need an inscription of more than a line or two
